The Tanzzentrale is a non-profit making organisation, supporting contemporary dance in the metropolitan region of Nuremberg.
The studios and office of the Tanzzentrale, which are funded by the municipalities of Nuremberg, Fürth and Erlangen, as well as the state of Bavaria, provide its active members with professional rehearsal space and working conditions. "Active" members are those independent choreographers whose work is subsidized by the regional municipalities.
Guest choreographers and young dance practitioners, who do not yet receive funding, can, depending on availability, also book rehearsal space in the Tanzzentrale studios.
The Tanzzentrale offers professional dance training for dancers and dance teachers in its studios three times a week and workshops are organised on a regular basis.
Founded in 1997, the Tanzzentrale has developed into a lively and vibrant centre for the creation of dance work and as a meeting place for the artistic exchange of dancers and choreographers. It receives recognition on a national level, and praise for its form and structure.
The Tanzzentrale welcomes the interest and support of prospective "active" members, and of any individual interested in supporting the development of contemporary dance in the region.
